We are looking for a Senior C++ Software Performance Engineer to join a highly specialized engineering team working on the performance optimization of a large-scale in-memory database and data management platform.

This is an opportunity for engineers who enjoy going beyond application development and diving deep into CPU architecture, profiling, debugging, algorithms, memory behaviour and low-level performance optimization.

You will investigate complex performance issues, identify bottlenecks, compare different hardware architectures and develop proof-of-concept optimizations that can have a direct impact on the performance of mission-critical database technology.

What You’ll Be Working On

As a Software Performance Engineer, you will investigate and optimize the performance of a complex, high-performance database environment running across different processor architectures.

Your responsibilities will include:

Performing exploratory performance analysis and root cause investigation
Identifying Intel x86-specific optimization opportunities
Analysing CPU-level performance bottlenecks
Comparing performance results across different hardware platforms
Using profiling tools to investigate complex performance issues
Developing proof-of-concept (PoC) C++ code changes
Building and extending internal performance analysis tools
Working with data structures, algorithms and software architecture to improve efficiency
Collaborating closely with highly specialized engineering and hardware teams

Mandatory Requirements

You must have:

Strong C++ programming skills
Excellent knowledge of Intel x86 architecture and its specific characteristics
Proven experience with software performance analysis and optimization
Hands-on experience using profiling tools such as Linux perf and/or Intel VTune
Strong ability to analyse, troubleshoot and debug complex technical problems
Solid knowledge of data structures and algorithms
Good understanding of software design principles
English B2+ or higher, with professional written and verbal communication skills
Availability to work under the proposed model, unless approved for a fully remote arrangement

Nice to Have / Differentiators

These skills are not mandatory, but they will strengthen your application:

Knowledge of RDBMS / relational database systems
Experience with in-memory databases
Experience with the aarch64 / ARM64 architecture
Python programming experience
Experience comparing performance across different processor architectures
Background in low-level systems programming
Experience investigating CPU, memory or concurrency-related performance bottlenecks
Experience developing internal profiling, benchmarking or performance analysis tools

The Profile We’re Looking For

This role is particularly suited to an engineer who is naturally curious about why software behaves the way it does at machine level.

You are comfortable moving between C++ code, profiling results, CPU architecture, algorithms and system behaviour. Instead of simply fixing symptoms, you enjoy finding the actual root cause of performance problems.

You should also be comfortable working in a highly technical environment where experimentation, benchmarking, debugging and proof-of-concept development are part of everyday engineering.
