Padawan selector (internship project)

About Brick

Brick is a startup from Curitiba that uses automation and AI to help the biggest insurance companies in Brazil fight fraud. We are a small team that believes technology can solve real problems, and we use AI every day, both in our product and in how we work.

The selection exam

Our padawan (intern) selection starts with an exam you take in your terminal, over SSH. You don't need to install anything: just an SSH key and a terminal of at least 100 columns.

ssh padawan.brick.s o

- About you: first, a short form with your contact details and a few open questions. The clock hasn't started yet, so take your time.
- One hour, six challenges: two ask for a number, and four are interactive puzzles where you experiment, observe and decide right in the terminal. Every candidate gets their own version.
- How you think matters: we look at how you reach an answer, not only the answer itself. A few well-chosen moves are worth more than many random ones.
- Pen and paper help: have them nearby, and an editor with your favorite language for the challenge that needs code.
- Disconnects are fine: reconnect with the same key and you continue where you left off, but the clock keeps running.
- No LLMs, please: we love them, but this exam is for people who enjoy solving puzzles on their own. We are not looking for a perfect score; we are looking for good problem solvers.

Just curious and not applying? You're welcome to take it too: write BRICK as your college and you won't be considered for the internship.
