ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a Middle Backend Engineer to develop and maintain backend services powering a high-traffic community platform supporting Glassdoor and Fishbowl integrations. You will build RESTful and GraphQL APIs using Node.js and TypeScript, work with MongoDB and Redis for scalable application architecture, and support production deployments through GitLab CI/CD pipelines. The role requires strong performance optimization skills and the ability to collaborate closely with frontend engineers, product managers, and cross-functional stakeholders.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

- Develop and maintain backend services using Node.js and TypeScript;

- Deliver sprint-scoped features and enhancements for the Community / Fishbowl Backend roadmap;

- Design, build, and maintain RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs;

- Work with MongoDB and Redis to support scalable application architecture;

- Troubleshoot and support production deployments through GitLab CI/CD pipelines;

- Monitor and improve application performance, scalability, and reliability;

- Identify and remediate performance bottlenecks, improving latency, throughput, and error rates;

- Provide production support, including bug fixes, incident response, and operational troubleshooting during work hours;

- Collaborate cross-functionally with frontend engineers, product teams, and stakeholders throughout the development lifecycle;

- Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering processes and platform stability.

MUST HAVES

- 2+ years of professional experience with Node.js and TypeScript ;

- Experience designing and implementing RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs ;

- Hands-on experience with MongoDB and Redis ;

- Experience working with production CI/CD pipelines ( GitLab CI preferred);

- Ability to troubleshoot deployments and production-related issues;

- Familiarity with containerized deployments and general containerization concepts;

- Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on performance optimization and scalability;

- Experience working in collaborative Agile development environments;

- Upper-intermediate English level.

NICE TO HAVES

- Experience with transactional email platforms such as SendGrid ;

- Exposure to SQL and warehouse databases such as Snowflake or Redshift ;

- Experience supporting high-traffic consumer-facing applications;

- Familiarity with observability, monitoring, and incident management practices.
