Resource – Production Planner

The Production Planner will coordinate the production workflow for Vehicle Assembly, Powertrain and Paint shop Departments. The incumbent will plan and prioritize operations to ensure maximum performance and minimum delay, and will determine manpower, equipment and raw materials needed to cover production demand.

Responsibilities:

1. Production Planning & Scheduling

Develop daily, weekly and monthly production plans based on demand, sales requirements, inventory targets, plant capacity and production priorities. Translate demand requirements into model/variant-wise production plans and line schedules . Develop and maintain detailed production schedules for assembly and supporting manufacturing processes. Balance production requirements against available capacity, manpower, equipment, tooling and working hours . Establish production priorities to achieve customer demand, delivery commitments and inventory objectives . Coordinate production sequencing to minimize changeover, waiting time, line stoppages and production losses .

2. Material & Component Planning

Determine material and component requirements based on the production plan and BOM. Coordinate with Procurement, Supply Chain and Warehouse teams to ensure material availability at the required time and quantity . Identify material shortages, supplier constraints and potential production risks and drive timely resolution. Monitor CKD/local component availability , where applicable, and ensure readiness for production. Maintain appropriate material and finished-goods inventory levels in line with business requirements.

3. Capacity Planning

Conduct capacity planning for assembly lines, critical processes, equipment and manpower. Identify capacity constraints, bottlenecks and future capacity requirements based on demand. Develop capacity augmentation, overtime, additional-shift or alternate-production scenarios where required. Support manpower planning in coordination with Production and HR.

4. Production Control

Monitor actual production against the approved production plan on a daily and shift basis . Track key performance indicators such as Plan vs Actual, schedule adherence, production achievement, line utilization and backlog . Identify production deviations, bottlenecks and delays and coordinate corrective actions. Re-plan production schedules when there are material shortages, quality issues, equipment breakdowns, manpower constraints or demand changes . Conduct daily PPC/production review meetings with relevant functions and ensure closure of critical actions.

5. Delivery & Inventory Management

Ensure production plans support on-time delivery to customers/distribution requirements. Monitor finished-goods inventory against demand and agreed inventory targets. Balance service level, inventory and manufacturing capacity to avoid both shortages and excess inventory. Escalate potential delivery risks and develop recovery plans with relevant functions.

6. Cross-Functional Coordination

Work closely with Production, Procurement, Supply Chain, Warehouse, Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, Maintenance, Finance and Sales/Commercial teams . Coordinate resolution of cross-functional constraints affecting production and delivery. Provide management with regular reports on production status, capacity, material availability, inventory and delivery risks.

7. New Product & Engineering Change Planning

Support new product introduction (NPI), model launches and engineering changes from a production-planning perspective. Incorporate new models, variants and engineering changes into production plans without disrupting ongoing production. Coordinate with Product/Manufacturing Engineering to ensure production readiness, material readiness, tooling and capacity before launch. Assess the impact of engineering changes on production schedules, inventory and material requirements.

8. Production Risk & Business Continuity

Identify production risks related to capacity, materials, suppliers, quality, equipment, manpower and logistics . Develop contingency and recovery plans for potential production disruptions. Escalate critical risks early and coordinate cross-functional mitigation actions. Maintain production continuity during supply shortages, equipment failures and other operational disruptions.

9. Process Improvement & Digital PPC

Analyse production planning and control processes and identify opportunities to improve planning accuracy, schedule adherence, inventory, productivity and responsiveness . Drive standardization and digitalization of PPC processes and reports. Improve planning parameters, master data, production calendars and scheduling accuracy. Utilize ERP/MRP systems and production data to improve planning visibility and decision-making.

Experience and Qualifications:

In order for you to be successful for the role, you will have experience in a Production Planning role, within the Automotive manufacturing industry, and be educated to degree level – Mechanical or similar.
