We are looking for an experienced Database Administrator to join an international technology environment, supporting mission-critical database services and contributing to projects across multiple countries.

This is a hands-on role for someone with strong expertise in AWS database technologies , performance optimization and production support. You will work closely with international teams and have the opportunity to contribute to current and future technology decisions.

Location: Porto, Portugal – Hybrid (3 days/week at the office )

International environment – English is the working language

Tasks

• Provide end-to-end support for the database layer of multiple mission-critical services.
• Install, configure and administer database environments based on AWS RDS, Aurora PostgreSQL and MySQL .
• Support and administer Amazon Redshift environments.
• Monitor and improve database performance, availability and reliability.
• Perform performance tuning and query optimization .
• Manage and optimize database workloads.
• Troubleshoot database incidents and performance issues in production environments.
• Participate in international projects, collaborating with technical teams and stakeholders across different countries.
• Contribute to technical discussions and decisions regarding current and future database technologies.
• Share knowledge and technical experience with other team members.
• Participate in the team's shift rotation and on-call schedule .

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience as a Database Administrator , preferably supporting mission-critical or production environments.
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS RDS .
• Strong experience with Aurora PostgreSQL and/or MySQL .
• Experience with Amazon Redshift .
• Solid knowledge of database installation and configuration .
• Strong experience with performance tuning and query optimization .
• Experience with workload management .
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage priorities with minimal supervision.
• Strong communication skills and ability to interact effectively with both technical and business stakeholders.
• Ability to collaborate effectively in international and multidisciplinary teams.
• Availability to work within a shift-based schedule , with the team providing 10 hours of daily coverage, 5 days a week .
• Availability to participate in an on-call rotation, approximately one week per month .
• Upper-intermediate English (B2) or higher , both written and spoken, with confidence to work daily in an international environment.

Education

• Master's degree in Information Technology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Engineering , or a related field; or equivalent relevant professional experience.
