About the Role

This is a senior full‑stack engineering role focused on building and scaling the core Freight Hero platform. You will work across backend services, integrations, internal tools, and customer-facing features, primarily using Node.Js, TypeScript, React, and AWS.

You won’t be inheriting a legacy monolith. You’ll be contributing to a modern, event‑driven, AI‑powered system and helping us scale it as customer adoption accelerates.

You’ll collaborate closely with product, AI, and customer teams to translate real operational workflows into robust, reliable software. As the team grows, you’ll have opportunities to mentor others, influence architecture, and shape engineering best practices.

What Success Looks Like

A successful engineer in this role:

• Builds scalable, reliable services in Node.Js/TypeScript that integrate deeply with customer systems.
• Designs and maintains AWS‑native infrastructure that is observable, secure, and cost‑efficient.
• Works cross‑functionally to understand customer workflows and translate them into technical solutions.
• Ships high‑quality features quickly while maintaining engineering excellence.
• Identifies opportunities to automate, optimize, and expand the platform.
• Contributes to a culture of ownership, clarity, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

Full Stack Engineering

• Build backend services, APIs, and workflow engines using Node.Js + TypeScript.
• Contribute to frontend components when needed using React + VueJS.
• Implement robust testing, observability, and CI/CD practices.

AWS native Architecture

• Design and maintain cloud infrastructure using AWS services such as Lambda, RDS, DynamoDB, SQS, SNS, API Gateway, and more.
• Ensure systems are scalable, secure, and cost‑optimized.

Systems Integration

• Build integrations with TMS platforms, carrier systems, and customer‑specific tools.

Work with internal teams to understand operational processes and translate them into scalable technical solutions.

AI Forward Development

• Collaborate with AI engineers to embed LLM‑powered workflows into the product.
• Use AI tools to accelerate development, improve code quality, and automate repetitive tasks.

Identify opportunities to expand AI‑driven automation across the platform.

Collaboration & Impact

• Work closely with product, operations, and customer success to deeply understand customer needs.
• Participate in technical discussions, architectural decisions, and roadmap planning.
• Help establish engineering best practices as the team grows.

What We Are Looking For

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong expertise in Node.Js, TypeScript, React, and AWS cloud architecture.
• Experience building distributed systems, event‑driven architectures, or workflow automation.
• Comfortable working across the stack (backend‑heavy, but able to contribute to frontend).
• Strong communicator who collaborates well with non‑technical teams.
• High ownership mindset - you thrive in fast‑moving, ambiguous environments.
• Curiosity about AI and eagerness to leverage it in your day‑to‑day work.
• Bonus: experience in freight tech, logistics, or integrations with TMS/ERP systems.
