Job Overview: The Senior Estimator uses best practices and knowledge of internal or external issues to improve the estimating discipline within McDermott. They will act as a resource for colleagues with less experience and share their conceptual and practical expertise related to the estimating discipline. Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

Review, query, and understand the scope of work in order to prepare a proper estimate and direct attention to those areas that appear inconsistent or contain a high-risk element

Support the PMT team to generate the Marine/Offshore Estimate for the Preliminary stage to ensure Bid No Bid

-

Review the Project Plan along with the project planner and prepare subcontract scope packages for any work that is required to be subcontracted

-

Gather information and input from functions with support from the Project Manager

-

Consult with Subject Matter Expert (SME) to discuss Estimates and resolve issues

-

Generate estimates with available Benchmark data and from experience prior to receiving the inputs from functions and evaluate the estimates received from functions against the internal estimate

-

Liaise with Project Team members plus all functional departments based on the specific functions allotted for a project, subcontractors and vendors, and Customer; including Procurement, Fabrication, Marine, Quality, HSES, Completions, and Welding Technology

Provide input to the Project Estimators, along with Basis of Estimate and Bench Markers

-

Give regular updates to the department manager/PMT /immediate supervisor and highlight any concerns about anything that might potentially jeopardize submitting a competitive proposal

Analyze the cost components that are critical/crucial and seek quotes for applicable items

-

Participate in Bid review meetings, estimate evaluation meetings, Risk assessment meetings, as well as any additional bid-related meetings, as required

-

Prepare a comprehensive Basis of Estimate (BOE)

-

Review and identify contract price form

-

Understand and clarify unit rate and lump sum breakdowns

-

Accurately manage all the Previous Tender information and Treat it with Confidentiality

-

Utilize support from the benchmarking team (SMEs) by analyzing information on the costs from other similar projects and preparing the relevant benchmark report

-

Attend and participate in Bid review meetings, estimate evaluation meetings, Risk assessment meetings, etc., as necessary for the Project/Department/Tender

-

Participate in HAZAN, HAZID, HAZOP, and other safety /operability/ reliability studies and workshops, as necessary for Project/Tender

-

Ensure any Risk or Opportunity highlighted is Duly captured for the Management review and approval

-

Post Tender submission provide input for the clarification

-

Support bid handover process ensuring proper transfer of pricing basis and critical assumptions to project team

-

Manage own time to meet objectives; forecast and plan resource requirements

Incorporate project planner input to develop the cost

-

Assure that the estimate is: o Completed promptly o Cognizant of the Bid ‘Win Strategy’ o Aligned with planned schedeule o All the Risk and Opportunities highlighted. o With Due Basis of Estimate o Accurate, free of errors, omission, or hidden contingency o In line with the agreed execution plan o Evaluate and recommend ways to be more cost-effective or profitable

Essential Qualifications and Education:

-

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related technical discipline preferred. Equivalent experience will be considered.

-

Five plus (5+) years of experience in a large Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) company (preferably in Offshore/Marine Operations, and offshore estimation, ).

-

Subsea/SURF experience with Minimum 3–5 years of direct experience in subsea/SURF construction estimation, including deepwater pipeline installation, flexible/umbilical lay, subsea structure installation, and marine spread costs.

-

Experience with DSV, PLSV, and/or Heavy Construction Vessel (HCV) spread rate estimation strongly preferred.

-

Cost estimation experience, preferably in the Oil & Gas industry

Willingness to work overtime as necessary to meet deadlines

-

Intermediate level in Microsoft Office systems, e.G., Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project

Accurately evaluate detailed specifications that are crucial to a cost estimator’s success

-

Must pay attention to minute details because such details may impact a product’s overall cost

-

Must plan their work and work efficiently and accurately.

Strong experience in offshore execution-based estimating

-

Background in EPCI offshore / subsea / marine projects

Experience as Estimator, Project Engineer, or Field Engineer

-

Knowledge of offshore installation, marine logistics, and subsea scope

-

Analytical, strategic, and cost/risk-oriented mindset
