Technical Business Analyst – FIX Protocol / Trading Applications
We are looking for a Technical Business Analyst with strong experience in FIX Protocol and trading applications to support technology initiatives within a global financial services environment.
This role requires a professional who can work closely with business stakeholders, product teams, application development teams and vendors to gather, analyze, document and validate business and technical requirements for trading-related systems.
The ideal candidate should be comfortable working with SQL queries, UNIX log analysis, functional specifications, data flows, system integrations and UAT support .
Key responsibilities
Gather, analyze and document business, functional and technical requirements for trading applications.
Work closely with business stakeholders, developers, vendors and product teams to define and validate technology solutions.
Create and maintain functional specifications, business rules, exception rules and process documentation.
Analyze system data across multiple platforms, including UNIX, FIX, Oracle, SQL Server and mainframe environments .
Perform SQL queries and UNIX log analysis to support requirements definition, issue investigation and validation.
Translate business needs into clear technical requirements for development teams.
Support data sourcing activities, validating data completeness from acquisition through report or system delivery.
Define and support testing requirements, test cases and UAT activities.
Conduct functional walkthroughs and obtain business sign-off.
Track project risks, defects, change requests and delivery status.
Support multiple projects or workstreams in parallel within the software development lifecycle.
Required experience
5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst or Technical Business Analyst .
Strong experience with FIX Protocol .
Experience working with trading applications or capital markets platforms.
Hands-on experience with SQL queries .
Experience with UNIX log analysis .
Ability to write clear functional and technical requirements.
Experience creating FSDs , business requirements, test cases and UAT documentation.
Good understanding of system integrations, data flows and application troubleshooting.
Ability to translate technical concepts to business stakeholders and business requirements to technical teams.
Experience working with developers, vendors, product managers and business SMEs.
Advanced English for communication with global teams.
Nice to have
Experience in financial services, brokerage, investment banking, wealth management or capital markets.
Knowledge of Oracle, SQL Server or mainframe environments.
Experience with data governance standards.
Experience leading small projects or coordinating workstreams.
Experience working in Agile or hybrid delivery models.
Ideal profile
The ideal candidate is not a purely functional BA. We are looking for a hands-on Technical Business Analyst who understands trading systems, can analyze FIX messages, read UNIX logs, write SQL queries, document requirements clearly and work directly with both business and technology teams.
