Head Of Compliance, Brazil

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Head of Compliance & MLRO to oversee the company's compliance and regulatory responsibilities in Brazil. This role will support the business in maintaining a strong compliance culture, managing regulatory relationships, and ensuring alignment with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.

Working closely with local and regional stakeholders, the successful candidate will provide practical compliance guidance while supporting the company's growth and licensing initiatives in Brazil.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the designated MLRO and lead compliance representative for the Brazil business.
• Oversee the company's compliance, AML/CFT, sanctions, and financial crime programs.
• Monitor regulatory developments and provide guidance on relevant regulatory requirements.
• Maintain relationships with regulators and support regulatory enquiries, reviews, and examinations.
• Support licensing, registration, and other regulatory initiatives as required.
• Provide compliance advice to business and operational teams on new products, services, and business activities.
• Help ensure policies, procedures, and controls remain effective and aligned with regulatory expectations.
• Oversee key compliance processes, including customer due diligence, transaction monitoring, and suspicious activity reporting.
• Identify compliance risks and work with stakeholders to implement appropriate controls and solutions.
• Prepare compliance updates and reporting for management.
• Deliver compliance training and promote a strong culture of compliance across the organization.
• Collaborate with regional and global teams on compliance-related matters.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Law, Finance, Business, Accounting, or a related field.
• Experience in Compliance, AML/Financial Crime, Regulatory Affairs, or a related function within financial services, fintech, payments, banking, or digital assets.
• Prior experience as an MLRO, Compliance Officer, or similar compliance role is preferred.
• Good understanding of Brazilian regulatory requirements and AML/CFT obligations.
• Experience interacting with regulators, auditors, or other external stakeholders is advantageous.
• Exposure to licensing, regulatory approvals, or compliance projects is beneficial.
• Experience within digital assets, fintech, payments, or financial institutions is preferred.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently in a dynamic and evolving environment.
• Professional certifications such as CAMS, ICA, CFE, or equivalent are a plus.
• Fluency in English and Portuguese.
